I was coming home today, and pulling out of a parking lot, I kinda stomped the gas a little harder than I meant to. All was fine until I breaked a little ways up the road. Car started to buck, the bell chimed, and my check engine light blinked. I was trying to find a good place to pull over, and then the light stopped blinking, the car stopped bucking, and it ran smooth as silk.
My question is, could this be a one off because I stomped the gas? I have looked online and the general consensus is that a blinking check engine is most likely a misfire. I know I stomped the gas pretty hard, so I feel like that could have caused it. Can anybody tell me if this is likely due to how I accelerated, or is it more likely a problem that needs further investigation?
I ask because I really can't afford a major repair. I know it might be something as simple as plugs which would be great, but I'm afraid of a costly repair.
