I think I’ve found a really good balance for the Gouging Fire deck. Adding in Lumineon is super clutch 90% of my games for finding Sada’s Vitality and getting Gouging Fire online turn 1.
I stuffed in 2 Devolutions cos usually 1 isn’t enough, Zard players I fight always find the next Rare Candy anyways, so I like having 2 but the Zard matchup is still pretty rough unless you’re able to take out Rotom and Pidgeot.
I almost never lose to Snorlax stall anymore, they literally just let me play and Jet Energy to the front every time lmao. I keep Moltres around for their Mimikyu stall as well
I haven’t lost to a Arc-Pix-Noivern deck yet. Everytime I play them, they’re too slow to set up and I end up bossing their Noibat before it evolves anyways
Theoretically, this deck shouldnt lose to Espathra because it can hit for weakness, Magma Basin bumps HQ, and it’s relatively easy to get enough energy onto Entei and Gouging Fire. But in my experience it’s a lot easier to make tiny mistakes that end up costing the game cos I’ll forget how much energy I need to attack
Future Hands MU is like a solid 50/50, really depends on who gets to go second. It’s not that big of a deal if they end up going second and are able to use Miraidon for energy, cos by next turn Gouging Fire already has energy and can get a boss kill on Hands
This deck can brick a fair amount of times, I’d say like a 65-35 ratio, but more often than not it’ll give you a really good starting hand and Gouging Fire will be able to swing turn1 and take sneaky kills. Really good against Vstar decks that need to evolve turn 2
