In the FAQ, it states
-If you are posting here and have had these symptoms for less than 12 months (but especially less than 6 months) post cessation, please recognize this is not nearly long enough to tell.
When people post saying it has been a few months, the replies say the same thing---to stop worrying, and that it's probably just protracted withdrawal.
This seems to imply that most people who have sexual dysfunction for a few months after discontinuation recover within one year. Is there any data to support this?
I am currently three months off lexapro, with only very minor improvements in sexual function. The whole reason I stopped taking it was the sexual dysfunction, and now three months later, I'm in a worse condition that while I was on it.
If I knew that 99.9% of people who have sexual dysfunction after 3 months have recovered after another month or two, I could relax a bit and wait, but without seeing data, it could be 0.1% for all I know.
I've been on lexapro before, and while I remember sexual side-effects persisting after discontinuation, I'm sure it didn't take this long the first time. So when I stopped this time, I was looking forward to getting my libido and erections back within a couple of weeks. After a couple of weeks, I thought it was strange that there was no improvement. After a month, I started getting worried, but was patient. After two months, I was starting to panic. Now, at three months, I'm at my wits end, and I need some answers.
I'm not sure how long I can go on living like this.
