Using Lucky Charm before boss crystals

If I have a lucky charm affixed weapon in an off slot in my weapon palette, can I effectively switch to it right before a crystal break and get its effect? And while I’m here, I’d assume the same can go for meseta fever? I wouldn’t mind throwing a cheap weapon on a palette to get that bit of boost.
