Moving to FedLoan

Post Body

UPDATE: got off the phone with FedLoan and they said DOEd authorized the move on May 11 and everything is being moved to FedLoan. Should have my welcome packet in the coming months.

tldr: Applied for PSLF in December to move loans to FedLoan. Began and subsequently canceled separate consolidation process to FedLoan. Have yet to see any progress in my PSLF application.

-------------------------------------

So I'm just curious if I royally messed up or if I can blame FedLoan here. This is my timeline:

  • December 14, 2021: I submit my first PSLF certification form. I know that I don't have enough months to qualify for PSLF (I only started an eligible job in October) but I did so to get my loans moved over from my current provider.
  • January 11, 2022: I receive a letter from FedLoan saying they received my form.
  • February 10, 2022: Under the mistaken belief that I needed to consolidate my loans (all of which were already eligible and on an eligible repayment plan) I begin the process of consolidating with FedLoan.
  • February 23, 2022: After finding out that consolidation would increase my monthly payment under the current repayment plan and that I didn't have to consolidate my loans to qualify for PSLF, I cancel my consolidation process.
  • March 2022: I call asking about my PSLF status. They say they haven't got to my application yet, but to call again in mid-April.
  • April 2022: I call again. They say they will mark mine as priority.
  • May 2, 2022: I call again. The operator said because I had started and cancelled my consolidation, they haven't done anything with my application. He said he would mark it to be processed and I should hear something within 2 weeks.

Fast forward to today, nearly 3 weeks after I last called. I've yet to hear anything on my PSLF status. My student aid portal is still showing Great Lakes as my provider. Nothing has been updated on my FedLoan portal. I'm currently on the phone waiting, and waiting, and waiting, with the hopes that I will get an update today--I'm not holding my breath.

So my question is, what should I do from here? Should I submit a new certification form? Should I keep hounding FedLoan? Did I screw up by cancelling my consolidation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
