Retro boot, really that easy?

I see the ps mini is like 20$ now at GameStop. Was going to pick it up regardless of being able to add ROMs or not. Stumbled across retro boot on google. Instructions say it's as easy as formatting a flash drive, sticking the retro boot program on said USB, and making folders and putting your ROMs in. Anyone actually use it? Was it that simple? Also claims you can play any old gen ROMs (n64, NES, Genesis) in Addition to ps1, has anyone tried that out either? Thanks for any replies.
