I am sure many users of Reddit will probably try to activate windows in a non-legit way at some point. I get it but heed this warning: DO NOT USE KMSPico. You will see articles or even Reddit posts that have it as a recommendation such as one post on r/piracy. But after testing the software in a sandbox VM to see just what happens under the hood, I can tell you it is NASTY! It is primarily a trojan that disables your ability to have Windows Defender and all its pieces active and working. It also performs DNS redirection to prevent you from downloading Antimalware or Antivirus software suites such as Malwarebytes or Kaspersky. I attempted to see if Kaspersky could detect all the pieces and remove it, and it did seem to try, but it left the VM bricked after a reboot with no way to interface to it via keyboard commands. I could have probably kept digging to get back in and see about removing it further, but I got enough to hopefully scare everyone away. Considering the software has root-level access to the whole system I would not be surprised if it is also running a keylogger of sorts. Anyway, consider this a PSA to anyone who thought they might give KMSPico a try.
