Random but why didn't Square Enix just give gamers an offline mode to play single-player in Babylon's Fall instead of completely nuking the game?

Seems to me like it wouldn't have been that hard to at least make it so people who forked over money for the game could still play it in some way.

I would have loved to play this game and I'm holding out hope that SE will someday give player the ability to play Babylon's Fall again.

I understand that the game was reviewed negatively and seemed to not be most people's cup of tea, but why a game studio just completely make the game they spent money and years on developing unable to be played?

If they had at least made an offline mode possible, the gane could still at least make them some money.

I admit that I'm dumb when it comes to shit like this, so maybe a smarter person can explain it to me? Did they just write it off for taxes etc?
