Controller keeps disconnecting then console loses internet connection.

Whenever my controller disconnects from inactivity while watching netflix or hulu it wont reconnect and then somehow the system disconnects from the internet, i cant use remote play and i have to unplug my console in order to use it again. I have no problems with my laptop, my phones and my xbox one.
This is extremely annoying does anyone know how i can remedy this
