Cramp when using DS4 controller, is there a more ergonomic alternative?

Hey all, I bought a PS4 about 3 months ago. Something I've noticed is that often my left hand will cramp up and it becomes painful to hold the controller. I'm really not gripping it that hard. And it's really bothersome when it happens on game-night with the lads. It also doesn't happen after a specific amount of time, sometimes it occurs after 2 hours, sometimes after 30 minutes. I was wondering if anybody could recommend a 3rd party controller that's more ergonomic or comfortable (especially for large hands). I'm also a guitarist, and the same thing happens when I play on guitars that have thin necks. So maybe the handles are just too thin?

Anyways, I googled it, but couldn't find what I was looking for. Mostly payed reviewers who praise the hell out of everything. Hoping reddit can help me out!
