Assistance with fixing my PS4's L2 button/Trigger

For my L2 to work I have to long press it sometimes for it to work and also it comes and goes so it works well one day then the next day it isn't working well. For example in 2k20 I need L2 to box out or post up or play intense defense, but when I press it, it doesn't box out until I press it longer or sometimes it doesn't even respond.
I would love some assistance, though I don't know if this is the correct way to post in here. Thanks.
