My download restarted midway but the download requirement was reduced

So Im updating my game and I left it on rest mode, after maybe an hour I checked and the download was restarted but the download requirement was reduced. Eg. The download was originally 4GB and 200MB was downloaded already (in the progress bar) then after an hour the progress bar said that 34MB was already downloaded and the download requirement was left with 3 GB. Is this normal? Why does it restart midway of downloading?
