External hard drive beeping

I have a portable sea gate 1 TB external hard drive that I’ve been using for maybe over a year now. But all of a sudden today it didn’t show up in the storage settings and I heard faint beeping coming from the external hard drive. Now I can’t play anything and I don’t know how to fix it. Can anyone help? Any tips?
