I've been running a successful campaign for about ~6 months , there's been ups and downs, changes made, and new competition entering and exiting the space. All of this is natural and I've seen the cost / conversion fluctuate between $18 - 33 / conversion based on all these factors.
The last week, i'm seeing something that doesnt make sense and isnt something I've experienced before.
The cost / conversion has shot up on our 3 most successful campaigns to $80, $120 , and $160 / conversion which is wild, and there's no changes that have been made to the campaign in the last 3 week.
The product we sell is $25-$50 range, and same with all of our competitiors, so this cost / conversion doest work.
Any idea what this could be? My first guess is a competitor but we've had that happen before where a competitor 10x'd the budget and bought all the first-position space, and that resulted in a cost/conversion around $30, a definite increase, but nothing like what im seeing now.
Now the campaigns are just completely bombing.
Edit: small note, these are not small campaigns, we're spending about $50k / month in ad spend
