For context, I (23F) work at a movie theater, doing concessions, so I’m standing the entire time, with some walking back and forth. There’s not a lot of opportunity for breaks because there’s usually just one person working concessions at a time.
I’ve been diagnosed with PoTS since June of 2024 and I’m taking Pyridostigmine, which is supposed to regulate my heart rate and make it so it doesn’t jump around a lot. I just got a watch that tracks my heart rate and at work, it was pretty consistently about 90-115. Even though I’m basically just standing there lol
I’m kind of at a loss for what to do because working makes me feel awful for several days afterward, and so I dread going in. Even at barely more than 1 shift a week, I’m miserable. (The shifts range from 4-6 hours)
The problem I’m having is that in order to go to doctors and find a way to relieve my symptoms and figure out if anything else is going on (like, my fatigue is actually ridiculous and there’s suspicion of a possible sleep disorder), I need money, obviously. But I’m so miserable and physically unable to do more than what I have been because of the burnout that happens literally every time, that I’m just not making enough.
So on top of the other expenses that come with being an adult, there’s just no possibility for seeking more medical help/improvement.
I guess I’m just wondering what y’all do/would do in this kind of situation. Because of the fatigue, there seems to be a lot of brain fog, so finding maybe a desk job would probably not be a good option either. Especially because I’m a super anxious person and just navigating a new job is always terrible. Anddd I guess some income is better than no income 😅 so I can’t just straight up quit.
I’m grasping at straws here and honestly any advice would be greatly appreciated!
