Opinions: Can a bipolar depressive episode cause POTS?

Hi all. Really need some input here, especially if you have Bipolar (specifically type II). Two days ago, my partner (who has BPII and currently unmedicated)'s mental state took a nosedive; he's now fighting a deep depressive episode. When this happens, sometimes physical symptoms manifest that look like a cold; but most of the time he's just a little extra sleepy and a little more anxious / in despair.

These last few days have been a little different. He's been dealing with a stronger sense of anxiety; he's mentioned dizziness and lightheadedness when standing (sometimes seeing spots), and his heart rate soars from 80 to 140-150. No chest pains / numbness in the left arm though, so it's not the big one.

My question is whether or not (as a general, non medical opinion) this is POTS, and if a bipolar depressive episode is causing it. He's not really felt like this before, nor have I seen him feel this way before.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
