Why don't women in online dating sites want to voice or video chat?
Post Body

Hey all,

Since it’s the Covid 19 Pandemic and all, I am confined to my home for the most part, for the sake of social distancing and the like. So, being a single guy, I don’t want to completely give up on the dating scene but I also don’t want to “get out there”...you know, social distancing. So the conclusion? Cyber-dating :)I have spoken to a few women on Bumble and Plenty of Fish mostly, and even made it a point to state that I am not interested in literally meeting them, at least not until the quarantine is all over.

Why is it that when I suggest voice-based chat (like mic-chat, phone call, video chat) that women decline or suddenly ghost me? Is there an “acceptable” time to ask?

The issue is: you CAN’T emotionally connect with someone through text-based chat. You CAN’T get to know somebody properly until you’ve at least “met” them, ie at least heard their voice and seen them. Also text-based chat gets boring within a week in my experience. I used to be more patient until I met personally with a woman after 3 months and found we had no chemistry. Text-based chat is a good way to determine that they aren’t completely nuts, or that they speak good english, but beyond that ANY feeling of “emotional connection” or “chemistry” is just the individual investing time and energy into their messages. It’s all one-sided.

What are your thoughts?
