I can't find much information about how common it is to experience a mini luteal right at ovulation, can anyone point me to some references or examples?

I've noticed almost consistently that my partner is immediately a different person at her period, but then anywhere from day 12-15 there is a spike in emotional behavior (either really elevated and horny, lovey, on top of the world.... or dramatic and depressive and raging for only about 24 hrs). If we make it past that we're usually perfect, or at least level until about day 20-23 when luteal behavior starts again.

Is this common?
