Hello fellow programmers! Was hoping I could get some input on life beyond PLC's
Post Body

Hi guys! I've been an engineer and a PLC programmer for years. I love what I do, absolutely. Problem is, as you guys know, there is a SIGNIFICANT amount of travel included with our jobs, and after having been travelling for about 15 years now (5 with PLCs), I'm done with it. I've done 2 job moves to try to reduce the travel, but it always tends to be about the same. At the companies I've worked with, advancement for a PLC programmer is limited to the PLC manager, and none of the managers I've dealt with want to leave that position any time soon, understandably. I'm making good money currently, but really want to move up into the white collar positions of management. I also want OFF THE ROAD. That has become the most important thing, and everywhere I've applied to either has their workers working 60 hrs a week, or extensive travel. I'm basically ready to leave engineering, go get my MBA, and see what I can do from there. I'm sure others of you may have a similar experience and was wondering what you did?
