How do you play FPS with your gamepad?

I know dumb question, but I only started playing with gamepad last year, pero nilalaro ko lang 'yong mga arcade type na game. Kinalakihan kong maglaro ng FPS using mouse and keyboard and just this year, I tried playing FPS with a gamepad, and sobrang naninibago ako, like it's so hard to aim using joystick, so I always end up playing with mouse and keyboard. Is there anything I should do ba to make it easier? Like some tweaking with the controller?

Thanks! Would appreciate any tips!
