I have been on birth control since being diagnosed with PCOS at age 18. It has greatly increased the quality of my life in many ways.
However, I am 45 years old now. Most women my age would be starting perimenopause.
I have no interest whatsoever in having children.
Has anyone here who was on birth control go through perimenopause- and thus successfully have a menopause- without going off from birth control? Or did you have to go off it? Did any of the PCOS symptoms return?
At age 29, I discovered the hard way, that if I do not take the birth control pill, the PCOS symptoms (acne, hirsutism, unpredictable amenorrhea, and so on) return. The Birth Control Pill is the only thing that works to treat my PCOS.
So I have no issue with going into menopause. I just do not want the PCOS symptoms to return- or to get Type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or any of the cancers that have their risk increased by PCOS.
