I was formally diagnosed with PCOS about 6 weeks ago. It was first suggested by a doctor that I maybe had it 1.5 years ago because of my symptoms (hormonal acne, very irregular and painful menses, bloating, fluctuating body weight) but hormonal tests came back negative, suggesting the problem was something else. This past year, I gained almost 60lbs in 10 months, going from ~140lbs to 200lbs, and went for testing again because the rapid gain in weight didn’t square with what I was doing day to day, and they confirmed I had it. I’m frustrated because I don’t understand why I tested negative and then tested positive 1.5 years later. I’m hoping if someone could help me find resources because I don’t know where to start and I feel pretty horrible and stressed, honestly. All I’m seeing is disconcerting things about having pcos and it’s really overwhelming.
