Looking for insight into viable contraceptive options for someone who experiences very frequent periods with options I've tried
Post Body

I have been having a right pain with finding a contraceptive that works for me, as I see from this subreddit is not uncommon. For background, before I used any conteaception, I would get around 1 period a year.

I started with a progesterone-only pill, Desogestrel, a few years ago. My doctor had me on this for 4 months but I bled constantly so was taken off of it.

I then had the contraceptive implant, Nexplanon, fitted a few months later to try that. I had it for 6 months, the first few weeks were fine and then I bled constantly for the remainder of having it in, with I think a couple periods of a few days where it let up. I was told after 3 months it should settle and it just didn't, so I got it removed.

I then went to see my doctor again a couple months afterwards and I was put on a different progesterone-only pill, Norethisterone. I have now been taking it for just over 5 months and I am finding I bleed less, but still it's 1 week on my period then 1 week off.

I have been told that the usual contraceptive pill would be best for me with PCOS but I'd need to lose 3.5 stone for that which has been very difficult (see my last post if you want the details). I'm not sure what other options are best for PCOS. I know because of PCOS i have a higher likelihood of not being fertile, which I would love to check as if I'm not I wouldn't have to bother with all this. I don't like using condoms as sex I find more pleasurable without, and me and my boyfriend struggled to find the right size ones for him. I have considered and IUD/IUS but I don't like the idea of them messing around with down there just to give it a go and see if it'll even work.

Questions: Does anyone have any success stories or advice about what contraception has worked for them? Has anyone had experience with an IUD (Copper Coil) as its the only conteaceptive I think may be useful as it wont mess with my hormones Has anyone else had this issue with having a constant period with different contractipive options? As I've not seen anyone mention it before. I'd like to see a specialist in PCOS but I cannot afford to go to one (Im in the UK and have so far been seeing a doctor through the NHS).

Any insight to make me feel less alone and like there are options which may be viable would be great.

Tl;dr - I've tried different contraceptive methods but they give me very regular periods. I was hoping people could give me some insight into if they share my experience and what methods have worked for them
