Can we (with PCOS) really lose weight just by exercising?

I just wonder if we can lose weight by doing more cardio workout and maintaining a normal diet, or is it really necessary to cut the sugars and carbs to lose it?

Our staple source of carbs is: fruits and rice. I would casually indulge in sugar foods like a bar of chocolate one a week.
