Recently I’ve decided to go to a GP because it’s been almost a decade, I’d like to get pregnant at some point in my life, and I’m almost positive that I have PCOS. For reference, I am 26 years old and have never experienced a regular period. I also have excess facial hair, battle with cystic acne, and am overweight (5’3, 183lbs) My GP scheduled me for blood work and a ultrasound (which I later found out was a transvaginal ultrasound). As a queer woman I’ve never had penetrative sex and I tried to have the ultrasound but was in so much pain during it I had to stop.
I called my doctor and asked if there was anyway she could diagnose me with just my irregular periods (which I’ve kept detailed notes about for the past year and a half) and my blood test. She basically said she would not diagnose me without the transvaginal ultrasound. Does this sound right? She hasn’t even looked at my blood work. If it shows I have elevated androgen won’t I fit two of the three criteria?
