Wondering if anyone has had experience with taking Levora, or any of its generics (chateal, portia, jolessa, Levlen, etc). Also, what is up with the weird names they give BCs???
I usually take Junel Fe 1/20, and my endo recommended switching to 1.5/30. However, neither one is available to me right now, nor are any BCs with norethindrone acetate, so I needed to find something else. My choices were either a generic Yaz or a generic Levora, and all the Yaz reviews really freaked me out, so I went with the Levora.
Yes, I know that the progestin in Levora (Levongestrel) is not recommended for PCOS. But, the norethindrone acetate in Junel also has high androgenic effects, in this case higher than the Levora. So I'm hoping that this is a happy medium between what my body's used to, and a very low androgenic BC like Yaz.
I feel optimistic about my decision, but I'm really scared of it fucking with my skin/body/hair/libido - especially libido, because I just got one again on the Junel after like 2 years of 0 sex drive, and I'm terrified of losing it.
Has anyone had experience taking this BC? How did it work for you/with your PCOS? Thanks !!
