Hi everyone. I was just dignosed on Wednesday with PCOS. And its been really rough. My husband and I started trying for kids just over two years ago, and I know I had irregular periods and that it could cause problems.
Before we started I talked to my gyno about it and she refused to test me before trying for 6 months. I am kinda non confrontational so its on me for not really demanding then. After 9 months I again did some bugging about the issue and lack of pregnancy. Some bloodwork was done and I was told to just keep trying. I had been using at home stips to predict ovulation any mentioned how I never had any results show up. My bloodwork did show higher levels of testosterone and that I was pre diabetic. At that point I got annoyed and have not gone back to that gyno.
My hubby and I were getting stressed out and figured we would “just let it happen” now over two years and nothing. My period stopped in June, not pregnant, some heavy cramping. I go to my primary Dr and he instantly thinks PCOS. I wish I had brought it up to him and not my gyno. He has bloodwork and an ultrasound done and it confirms PCOS with cysts on my overies. Yay.
Love my husband through this whole process he has been very supportive. Made sure i know he doesnt care if we cant have kids the traditional way. Im adopted so im okay of it comes to that, but not my first choice for a couple reasons.
Im already planing on going on a ketogenic diet. Cutting carbs and sugar. I dont drink soda often currently so thats an easy cut. More exercise is a must as well, but im recovering from a major foot and arm injury so thats making things hard.
Ive been doing some research here and kept seeing people referring an Endocrinologists. I called around and was getting told 3-4 months until an available appointment. No idea if thats normal. Then I found a place that will see me...this wednesday. Thank goodness someone else canceled!
Kinda havent been able to talk to my Dr yet, but didnt want to pass on the appointment when 5 other places had such a long time booking. I feel really overwhelmed with everything and Im not sure what questions to ask them.
Thank you so much for any help, I just joined this sub but everyone already seems so very nice.
