This is an early success story but one I wanted to share!
TL:DR - I have high testosterone and my chin acne seems to have responded to spearmint and inositol in just one week, however my period is slightly delayed. This feels like a promising early result, has anyone else had the same?
I am currently awaiting an ultrasound to confirm PCOS, my sister and mother both have it and my blood test found raised testosterone (1.78 nmol/L). I've been dealing with acne for 20 years (I'm 31) and hair thinning for about 10 years, plus PMDD and a bit of extra body hair in recent years. So either PCOS or hyperandrogenism, or both!
I finally decided to do something and noticed after 2 days of spearmint tea that my hormonal breakout on my chin had lost some of its redness and inflammation.
Then, I started myo-inositol 1000mg daily (and have now doubled this dose.)
After 5 days, I've noticed a lift in my mood and today I've woken up to find my hormonal chin acne has basically gone, which is wild to me. I had several small underskin nodules that were in various stages of development, and these have now either totally disappeared or significantly flattened. What the heck!
On the flipside, my period is now 5 days late, which is unusual for me (I think being on BCP for many years actually gave me a regular cycle, I've been off it for 3 years and it's still been regular.) I understand that can happen with Inositol but it feels totally worth continuing with it and monitoring this.
Has anyone else found Inositol and spearmint to reduce acne and inflammation so fast? I'm just amazed, my acne is moderate, sometimes mild when my diet is amazing, but has been so stubborn for my entire life.
For full disclosure, I also began taking iron supplements because my ferritin was 33, getting a bit too close to 30 which is considered iron deficient, so this could have had some impact, but my strong feeling is when it comes to acne it's the testosterone and inflammation that has been causing it.
