I'm having trouble with my Archfey warlock's patron...

I don't have a clue what the patron's motives could be for giving this character powers. The idea is that he encountered his patron when he was a kid, so he doesn't remember making the pact. I don't want the patron to be an asshole fey who used deception to get a child for its service. I want it to be a respectful relationship, but I don't know what its motivation could be for granting him powers in the first place.
