This isnāt news, obviously but Jesus Christ what in the actual hellā¦
I donāt feel like I am playing with adults.
Iāve been playing Overwatch for over 1,400 hrs and since OW2 launched ive seem the occasional people blame one another but Iām starting to see people always trying to one up one another. Even amongst your own team. Like, who even talks smack in Quick Play?
Last night I had so many people, SO MANY people either leave(x3), talk shit from the enemy team(x4), and or blame our team(x9). All in competitive of course.
And what is with people switching to a hero just to prove a point? And then that person talking smack the whole time.
Iām 29 years old, I roll my eyes at this behavior. Itās exhausting. Especially when you have a teammate or teammates getting onto you and you try to explain what happened or why you did something and then want to fight you on it.
Last night I had so many of these instances. All examples are from comp.
For example, when I was playing as mercy one game and loads of my team had died and a teammate said āmercy Rez someoneā and there were 3 dead teammates there in front of the enemy team. Basically telling me to rez them to feed the enemy team some more. A bad decision. Thankfully this person didnāt wanna fight me on this but they made it sound like I wasnāt rezzing anyone. I wasnāt rezzing them is what they were bitching about and people donāt seem to realize there are reasons why a person doesnāt do somethingā¦ like maybe your dead body is in a bad spot to put myself in and if I die the team loses a healer.
Next example, is when I had played Moira on a push map(Rome). We were doing pretty good tbh. No fighting and people were in the voice chat and actually in a decent mood. The enemy team loses a support player unfortunately. Later after that, the dps switched to widow and starts popping off. Then my team become frustrated they are a player down and still getting killed by a widow and losing some fights. My tank wanted to be snarky and said that āyou all were really helping by staying in that room.ā The middle area on Rome with side rooms. The robot was right there, I am a support using cover, there is a widow getting a lot of kills. It did not seem like a good idea to go out of cover. Of course, all of this coming from the guy who has above 200 health and just says āBe betterā. So I guess using covering near the objective is bad. Whatever. Later that match, we are in overtime. We honestly have the win regardless of the enemy teams efforts cuz they did lose a person. Unlike other players, I donāt just run to the point by myself in overtime anyways. I always try to wait for my team. The tank yells āReally Moira?!ā And I am confused. Iām just waiting for folks to spawn, āget on the point.ā He says. āIām waiting for my team.ā I reply. Because if I go in there Iāll just feed and we will all be staggered anyways.
Next example, I had a pair of salty gentlemen wanting to blame everyone under the sun. They were the tank and a dps. On dorado. We had a HORRIBLE beginning. I chose to play Zen on attack because in my experience discord helps get picks and getting picks while the other team has a walk from their spawn just means a win hence the choice. We canāt even really get to the point itās so bad in the beginning. Orbs sent out. Zarya says Zen isnāt the pick. I didnāt argue because I wanted to try to make something work and Iām willing to switch. Other healer was mercy so I decided Kiriko because I usually play the other healers in different scenarios. We are still struggling and me and the support are waiting for the dps to spawn and the Zarya wants to bitch that his supports are waiting in spawn. Yeah, regrouping plus he wasnāt out there for long and I was healing him from where I was. He wanted to argue how long he had been out there (15 seconds apparently). Felt like these guys just wanted to bitch just to bitch. Later on we actually get our grip and get the payload going. However the moment we got our grip the other dps got onto the other dps about his dmg and then gave him hell periodically while we were pushing the payload. Fuckers were silent most of the way. They only talked to bitch. Not a single call out.
And often this harassment led to just people wanting to throw. In my other games. Of course that dps ended up doing so as well after so much.
But what gets me is the pressuring into making bad decisions as a support when I know better. I could argue with them why but that never works because people just want to be right and donāt want to be part of the reason we fail as a team.
Itās like a big part of this community cannot and absolutely will not take responsibility for their actions.
Ive fucked up too. Iāve placed my Bap ult last night in a really bad spot cuz I misclicked. I used my zen ult too late to save my team. I got too aggressive while on brig in one game. I quick stepped as Kiriko to an ally who was surrounded and I knew that and I did it anyways. And every single time Iāve thought to myself I deserved what came. I deserved the consequences. That Bap ult placement was especially embarrassing and laughed it off in chat saying ādonāt look at my ult. Donāt look at it.ā
I donāt divert the blame. I donāt say ādps/tank/healer diffā I donāt call out on someone based on the numbers on the leaderboard.
The only time Iāve ever called out someone is when they are clearly throwing. Blatantly. But apparently what is considered āthrowingā the bar for some people is incredibly low and will spam āGGā in chat because they couldnāt get out the spawn and then later move the payload and just ignore their asses had given up in the beginning.
Sorry for the rant. It just especially annoys me when I have teammates tell me what to do when I know itās a stupid thing to do.
