Adding Cross Platform Friends

Hi all,
Looking for some help on adding a friend. I am on Series X he is on PS5 and is a new player. I am trying to add him and so we each sent a friend request to each other. However, I can't figure out how to accept the request.
I checked battle net, in-game, and downloaded the battle net app and nothing. I have never done this before, usually just add people I play with in-game. Some help would be appreciated as we can't tell if this is another bug or if we're just being dumb.
