*Note* This isn't a direct attack of the developers, but just an honest criticism of developer communication.
Yes, many would say that they are busy with OW2, but this has been an issues for quite some time and I've felt that is hasn't ever been that great.
Back in the day, the community would beg the devs for acknowledgment about specific issues, and Jeff would post something about upcoming skins, he would troll toxic people on the forums, or other fluff topics. There are legitimate questions that console users have been asking since the release of the game without any answer to this day.
They never had an open dialogue with players of specific characters, otherwise Symmetra players would NEVER endorse Symm 3.0 (which is why I personally knew many Symmetra mains that left OW permanently).
It seemed like they were more interested in OWL, throwing balance changes against the wall and seeing what stuck, and promoting seasonal events that were the same every year.
It feels like they don't actually care how *fun* it is to actually play Brigitte now, or they wouldn't have made those changes. They don't seem to care that there are actual Bastion mains out there, a launch hero that deserved a proper rework for years now, or the fact that there are a serious lack of proper, main anchor tanks in the game.
Anyone remember the Symmetra Megathread back in the day on the forums? It had literally thousands of posts from Symmetra mains, begging to address the core issues with the character and there were many posts that suggested some quite common sense, mild changes that could be tested on the PTR that would help the hero out. They could have tried some some slight changes on the PTR and see how Symmetra mains and the overall OW playerbase felt about them.
Blizzard completely ignored the sentiment of the entire Symmetra community, released Symm 3.0, and to everyone's (un)surprise, the rework didn't address her core issues at all and she's wasn't any better (I would argue she's even more niche and team dependent now). Except the fact that the devs alienated much of her playerbase.
I know it sounds like I'm just salty but I love Overwatch. I'm a gold border players that plays often and want the game better. I sincerely hope things change with OW2. I know of some games where the developers actively engage with the player base, communicate often, admit mistakes, have a dialogue with parts of the community that felt neglected, generate hype for new/fresh content, and take criticisms on the chin. And I really do hope Team 4 of Blizzard, the Overwatch team, can be like that moving forward.
