No developer update for 3 months
Post Body

So today when browsing the forums I realized that we haven't had a developer update with upcoming changes for 3 consecutive months now, while before we would atleast get one every month or so. There are multiple reasons why I feel like they need to put out one soon, which I would like to discuss in this post.

Disclaimer: English is not my native tongue and I will be making some mistakes here and there in this post!

  1. It seems like the development team is distancing itself from the community, which gives the Overwatch community the impression that the game is not getting as much support from the developers and in turn will make people believe that Overwatch might be dying(i don't think Overwatch is dying personally but it's something that should be mentioned since it's a statement that has been thrown around a lot lately).

  2. Jeff Kaplan told us sometime ago that they were working on something very big for overwatch in 2019 and that that's the reason why we haven't gotten much new gamemodes/changes in events etc. Leaving us in the dark like they have for the past months, makes me wonder whether or not they are actually working on the game or if it was just something they said to keep us happy for a bit.

  3. There are so many things that could be progressed on when it comes to story and I'm happy that we have gotten a new mini puzzle with the release of Paris. But I feel like that with characters like Echo, Maximillien and others, that there are so many things they could also work on and maybe tell us about.

  4. Balancing has always been a major concern of the community. Although I feel like they would be kinda busy with the new OWL season in terms of balancing, it would atleast be nice to get some feedback on what things they are currently working on so we know that certain problems are getting fixed(>>looking at you Goats).

These were just a couple of things I thought of and I hope people will take the time to think about these things.

I know that de dev team just released a new map and that OWL just started, but beyond the puzzle that came with the map we barely have anything to look forward to in the next couple of months.

My only hope currently is that they drop something major with the Archives event, but that's still a couple of weeks away. I personally have loved Overwatch since it's release and I wish the best for the game.

Edit: so as many probably have seen already, the new hero teaser is out. Jeff also just appeared on an interview with Stylosa about the new hero. Link to the interview for people that are interested: https://youtu.be/nwRUSnEwWFY

A developer update almost always follows a reveal relatively closely. We can reasonably anticipate one within the next week.
