Decaying Rank Problem

So I don't play Overwatch Competitve for a few weeks, usually playing around 3500s - 3800s SR. Come back after those weeks to diamond due to decay which is completely fine but for what seemingly feels like every single game I get paired against masters. I have to grind for what feels like no reward, usually being the only diamond in the entire game. I feel like because i'm diamond shouldn't I be facing other diamond's in competitive, not people 500/600 SR higher.
Like to know what you guys think.
