Sometimes when you play online games it gets heated and you start to blame your teammates. Maybe you get mad and you start to verbally abuse your teammates. Such as calling them "trash" or telling them to "uninstall".
I won't lie. I used to do that in other games (League of Legends, CSGO, Dota 2, Rocket League, basically any online multiplayer PVP game). And I've slowed down on the flaming for about a month now (trying hard to stop being a shit) but I was awful. Every game, just talking shit to teammates and getting toxic.
I've played around 6 hours of Overwatch since launch and I haven't been toxic at all. It's weird. I see my teammate go Tracer and do nothing but die but I never really feel compelled to tell them in chat "Stop fucking playing Tracer and refund the game" or something awful. I might say "Wow this Tracer is ass" when I'm in a voice chat (discord) with my friends but I don't feel the need to ever be toxic in chat.
The only times I use chat is to give teammates information "Widow just ulted" or compliment them. I find myself complimenting the enemy often too. "Damn Zen, nice counter ult. Fuck..." After I get my Reaper ult countered.
Maybe it's the lack of scoreboard to see how many times a teammate has died. But I just play matches, enjoy the matches, sometimes get salty about losing an easy game but the lack of being able to call out a teammate and say "Your KDA is awful stop playing" makes the game much more enjoyable.
I don't have to make others feel like shit to have fun, win or lose. And I think it was a really nice choice for the devs to not include the scoreboard. I'm assuming that, that was their intentions.
Now I can enjoy this amazing game and not ruin it for others.
Hopefully this behavior translates well when ranked mode comes out. But this game is so damn enjoyable so who knows.
Tl;dr: Thanks for not including scoreboard devs, it's made me a better player to play with.
