A solution for que times

Post Body

With the 6v6 playtest coming I've been thinking about potential que time problems that could return. And the solution could also work in 5v5 as well

The solution i came up with is this, Games are still locked to a 2 2 2 format (even though open que allows for more wild whacky comps the frequency at which entire teams still instalock all DPS is too common) however when either you launch your que or when the game begins everybody will be randomly assigned into a role 2 each. Also the option to swap roles with someone (if both parties consent) is available throughout the game. In addition to this there could also be a setting you can enable or disable that prevents you from playing the same role 2 games in a row to prevent you just always playing one role do to poor rng)

Positives: 1.que times largely solved 2. Players will become more well rounded playing multiple different roles (which I believe could also lower overall toxicity to a degree-stepping into the tanks shoes for example or playing support and seeing your tank charge in and die out of LOS) 3. Being able to swap roles with someone if they are really struggling (example your tank is being destroyed you could swap with them) 4. 6v6 becomes significantly more viable (que time arguement killed)

Negatives: 1. Rank system has to go back to a single rank instead of one for each role (or a more complicated rank system where your role is randomly assigned when you que this would make queuing with friends could further complicate this) 2. You will not always get to play the role/hero you want (which can result in people throwing or not trying in games they are not playing the role they want)

Though not being able to consistently play the role you want to play can be a detriment, I think the removal of the problem of que times can not only improve the gameplay and make the return of 6v6 more viable, but also it could help make balancing the game easier because they don't have to overturn characters/roles to motivate people to play them. As with every solution to the problem it's a give and take and if you really just want to play genji only you can just play quickplay. Open que as much as I love the whacky comps that can come from it having only 1 in every three games feel viably enjoyable because everyone instaques DPS. The solution i proposed keeps the average match quality advantages of role que while still getting to keep some of the advantages of open que que times and role swapping. Thank you for attending my Ted talk for those of you who actually read this far.
