A while back, it came to my attention that Outschool does not count students as having taken a course until the section they were in ends. Which makes sense, except for Ongoing classes which (theoretically) don't end. I've been teaching my most popular class since July, and have had the popular time slot sections going for months and months now... and still only showed that around a dozen students had taken it. New enrollments and follows for the course continued to dwindle slowly.
So, I decided to close all sections of my ongoing classes (95% of what I teach) and on the last day of class, transfer all students into the new section so parent's wouldn't have to deal with anything (though it was a pain for me). Here's what happened:
- It immediately showed that 40 more students had taken my most popular class on the listing page.
- Enrollments and saves increased in ALL my classes, and I quickly went back to filling out sections.
Anyway. I wanted to pass that on because it seems to have had a huge effect and I hope it helps out some other people!
