My wife and I moved to NNJ (Summit NJ vicinity) from NYC in the thick of COVID.

We still have ties to NYC (one of us commutes there several days a week for work, we have friends made over 10 years of living there).

We love hiking and often feel that we don’t do enough of it. We generally drive up to the Bear Mountain area in NY, muscle memory from our time in NYC. Several times a year, in the warmer months, we drive up to and stay in the Green Mountains area in Vermont and hike there. We have hiked a bit in NJ - Mt. Tammany is a favorite hike under an hour from where we are.

We aren’t technical hikers. But we are fit and have high stamina to make up. The max elevation gain up and down we’ve done in a day hike has been about 2,800ft.

We aren’t on Meetup etc. I apologize if this is not the right place to look for hiking company - but we are very interested in building a circle of friends that we could shout out early in the week “who is up for hiking X this Sunday” and then meet up and hike.

Are there subreddits specifically for this? Are others interested in this as well?
