I recently read "The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess" and really enjoyed it! I think this was mainly due to the protagonist, Iana.
- Feels secondhand cringe as a "normal person" in an OI scenario
- Regularly embarrasses herself and bumbles around
- Is funny in a way that isn't mean-spirited or random/meme-based (this is a huge personal turn-off when I read comedy OI)
- Acknowledges attractive people but doesn't turn into a mindless simp about it
- Is low-spec but not utterly useless. Uses her genre-savviness to get by, even if she is usually still saved by the male characters
- Her bad reputation as a villainess sticks to her and does not immediately dissipate the moment she does 1 nice thing
I found these qualities really refreshing! The fact that the story showed her being cool in some moments and extremely lame in others made Iana seem actually human to me. I wanted to see if there were any other comic (OI or otherwise) with a protagonist like this.
Other roughly similar ones I've read and enjoyed: Miss Not-So-Sidekick, Tearmoon Empire Story
Thank you!
