Question: Why do we end prayers with some variation of ' In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit'
Post Body

My mother has been sick and I've shared some of Orthodoxy's prayers with my family during this time. One of my family members asked why we don't end our prayers with 'in Jesus' name' but rather with some thing like 'in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit'. My thinking is that we are making a trinitarian statement. We're not asking God the Father (person 1) for something in Jesus' (person 2) name because they are three persons in one. Is this correct? I don't want to give the wrong answer, and I want to understand my theology better.

Thanks!
