Hello everyone! I’ve been a birder for about 6 years now and have a “bird bucket list” (birds I really want to see) Common Loons & American Woodcocks are on the top of my list. I’m wondering where to look to find these birds, I know ones waterfowl and the other is in wooded forests but I have some questions. I’m from upstate NY but don’t mind traveling to see them :)
Are either of these birds elusive?
What season would be the best to see these birds?
Do Loons really spend their whole lives in the water?
Is there anything I should know before going to see these birds?
