Hey hive mind
I have been having a small dispute with my supervisor and have been left quite confused regarding the interpretation of CNMR I have recently taken. I am a PhD student that has coupled a molecule of diethyl squarate and benzylmaine (1 eq) in an addition elimination mechanism. Unfortunately the quaternary carbons have quite low intensity on CNMR so have upped my sample size to be around 7 mg per carbon atom as instructed and significantly increased the spectrum scan number to 2048 scans. The issue i am having is that some of my peaks specifically all of my quaternary carbons are appearing as doubles and it is confusing me and my supervisor as to why this is happening. I am running samples in dmso if it makes any difference at 400MHz
Any suggestions I can go back to him with
