Is sugars chemistry difficult in practice?
Post Body

Hi! I received an offer to do my PhD in a different institute that I have planned. Group is taking care of sugars chem. (extending, adding ring etc.). Regarding to that I wanted to ask you two things: 1. Is it really that difficult part of chemistry? I heard a lot of bad things about sugars and I am aware that they are pretty unstable rings with plenty of stereocenters, but is it really THAT BAD? 2. Is it a good idea to change field in that moment? Since my BSc I was working with almost every kind of molecules, but not sugars. I find that topic interesting and I am eager to learn sth new, but is it a good time for that when starting PhD?
