Yeah, it wouldn't be easy... Someone took the time to go through about a week's worth of comments and it was close to a hundred. Looking through any MF4MF or MF4F post and all but maybe one or two comments in each are from single guys. However, many of them are from the same guys and we're discussing that if we removed the comment(s) and warned these repeat offenders that they are spamming, it might become easier in the long run. The three of us are up for doing the work if swingers want us to. If not, we'll request that whomever is reporting these to stop.

Verification wouldn't require faces, ever. It would follow what is described in the link above.

Bulls would have their posts removed just the same as it's been done. They can still comment in threads though and the theory, as I understand it to be, is that those who are looking for a bull, would see a validated one as being less likely to be a flake. It's admittedly not our area of expertise here.

Thanks for the feedback!

We already require post flair (only options are MF4* and F4* varieties) and it's been helpful for us all. In the redesign, you can even search for specific flairs to filter on. We use this a lot as a tool in our banning of spammers and M4* posters as a 'okay, you didn't read the rules which are posted in the three places, however, as a last resort, you still tried to be deceitful by lying about you being a MF couple'. Easy ban at that point.

I like that idea of an automod commenting about the rules. We have one already that is aimed at the poster (look at every post here) but we'll discuss either adding to it or removing it and starting a new one listing out this rule, again. Honestly though, single guys rarely read... I've already received two PMs asking if we're looking for a third with this post. Seriously.

We all agree that regions would be extremely helpful and we've been discussing how to best implement this. We've had some users provide us with some regional lines (six seems most reasonable) and I think we are about to implement something soon. The issue we have is that there are only so many tools Reddit has for us to use, namely, User flair and Post flair. As is, if a user wanted to put in their POST flair who they are (MF, F), what they are looking for (4F, 4MF, 4M/F/MF, etc.) AND where they are located (one of six regions), the required flair section goes upwards of 50 permutations - add verified or not and it's over a 100 (962). I can't say which we'll agree on but in the end but the goal is to have all of these available so the user can show off and search for some of these in one aspect or another.

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, they really are spamming.

Thanks for the feedback.

I agree.

We're working on verifications and how to implement now.

Yeah, I think you'd win. Still, I'm glad that he replied and it gives us one more data point.

Not sure how to rephrase that... Let's try this;

  • 'should we, the mods, delete comments that spam the original posters?'.

  • Or maybe, 'should we, the mods, remove off-topic comments?'

  • Or maybe, 'should we, the mods, remove comments that users report as off-topic?'

  • Or maybe, 'should we, the mods, remove comments that go against OP?'

We will take your feedback as a single guy in a swinger subreddit into consideration, thank you.

Good question and yes, there is a 'solution' to this; it's required user flair. There are a handful of flairs for posters to select from that are required in order for a user to post their content - Reddit won't let them finish submitting unless one of these is chosen.

We went this route vs in the subject line for a few reasons:

  • In the redesigned reddit (aka, "New Reddit"), you can filter for specific flairs.

  • It's more universal (some use 'W' in place of 'F', some say, "WM4WM", etc.) and it gets cumbersome for some users, especially those who are newer to Reddit.

  • While these filters are easy to set up with an automod, this route is easier for all: poster, user, and us mods.

  • For a bonus, we get a lot of spammers and single guys trying to cheat the flairs and can easily find them this way and ban them for breaking the rules, vs. warnings or the automod removing their post and giving them ways to work around it all.

There are a few hiccups on Reddit's end with this flair system, but we know what to look for and we catch them fairly quickly.

And yes, we remove a lot of 'would you' posts... This is the modus operandi of OF creators, too. We have some behind the scenes stuff to filter these posts and most get stopped before they make it to the page. Of course, there is a fine line here as sometimes there are swingers looking for "M" and would really like to know if there are any thirsty guys who would. This is where the communities feedback via reports and us looking at the posters histories come in.

If you find a post that isn't swinger-related, please report them and we'll look at them. If they aren't, we'll remove them and advise the poster to find more appropriate places, such as r/OregonGoneWild or r/OregonMenGoneWild, which are more appropriate to post to.

As we try to make this a better subreddit, we'd like to hear from you, the swingers of r/OregonSwingers, on how to best do this.

1) On the subject of Single guys. Someone is going through and reporting all of the single guys' comments that are replying to posts that do not ask for "M" in their flair or post. So far we have left these alone but does the community of swingers here believe that these should be removed?

2) Verification. We've received some PM's asking about verification and our initial thought is that this sub still has too few actual swingers in it to matter, however, we are fully on board with doing this if we get enough who request us to. We would have COUPLES, WOMEN, and BULLS (subject to more discussion on bulls and how to apply these). Verification could be from public posts or PM's to the mod team and they would follow Reddit standards of verification like what is described here. EDIT to add: Bulls would still not be able to POST, only user flair in the comments. It's not our area of expertise so any and all feedback is appreciated here.

3) Monthly introduction posts? A stickied post by the mods where anyone can comment in with who, what, when, and where. We understand that not all swingers are up for making posts and we've heard that some feel that making posts here "get buried too quickly".

4) Topic-specific discussion posts that get stickied? We've had some requests for monthly themed posts that centers on local things e.g. club reviews, websites, etc.

Just a note: We get that we are not Kasidie or Swinglifestyle (SLS) or Fetlife or others. We aren't trying to replace them in any way. This is just another space for like-minded adults to come together.
