Is the Erotic Ball worth going to? We are considering hitting it instead of one of the club parties. Is there playing there? Any big do’s and don’ts? We would love to hear some opinions from people who have been to one. Thanks in advance.
We've gone a few times and each time it's a little different. It sells out every year so it's clearly worth it to some. And we've been back enough times to put it on our 'maybe' list each year so we think it could be worth it for most here. But if you've been to Sesso/Privata/Sanctuary it's going to seem really tame, sex-wise.
Few in the crowd are LS and most of the people came with their vanilla group of friends; it's not a Meet-n-Greet or place to meet anyone new. The amount of LS couples there varies greatly each year, too. One year they teamed up with Privata, where Privata was the official after party spot, and the sexiness of the costumes went up a few notches, the downside was that the place cleared out when Privata opened and everyone headed over to there.
The main floor has some good stage acts and a couple of good bands, with Soul Vaccination always putting on a good set. They do some crowd voting competitions that are always fun, too. There is no playing there, like actual sex acts, but the 'dungeon' downstairs has flogging and shibari demonstrations throughout the night. Besides no actual sex acts, there's also no nudity allowed. My wife wore pasties last year and while she didn't feel out of place, there weren't many others showing that much.
Any big do’s and don'ts?
DO DRESS UP! I think you have to to get in but if not, definitely do or you will feel really out of place. Do get your tickets early, they do sell out. Do plan for something afterwards as they close down pretty early (11:00pm?).
