Hi I’m a recovering heroin addict and an on 400 mg of kadian and notice that 2-3 hours after I take it I feel nauseous. The constipation I deal with from it forces me to discontinue it once every 2 weeks so I get a bowel movement and I take a lot of laxatives. I been on methadone and withdrawal doesn’t start for about 4 days after last dose and with Karina I was suffering in under 48 hours while awaiting bowel movement. Then it comes on too fast and then I’m dealing with brutal hyper movement if you know what I mean and most of you would.

When I used heroin the half-life is only 4-5 hours and even using 2 x a day my bowel movements are regular and these synthetic time release and long acting drugs shut me down and it’s probably not healthy what I’m enduring.

These optiates also shut off my swallow reflex and I can only swallow my saliva when I drink something or I’m struggling to swallow and that’s really annoying.

I’m in Canada and I don’t think there are any safe options for me to stay off heroin. Other than just use heroin which i can’t afford at this point from tolerance but chipping does go a long way.

Now im just ranting and complaining about drugs that are meant to help because they affect me negatively. My question is , is Kadian known for nausea? Are there any options other than suboxone, methadone and kadian in Ontario?
