Expand RAID array, or start from scratch?

Post Body

Some of you maybe saw my previous post. I have a Thecus N5550 that I've changed over to run on OMV5. One of my 1TB drives bit the dust and I've replaced it. It looks like at least 1 more is close. So I'm probably going to replace all 5 drives. The best deal I've found is on 2TB drives. Who doesn't want more space anyway?

I did not rebuild the array when I migrated from Thecus OS. My question is: Are there reasons/advantages to build a new array from scratch and restore the data from a backup vs. replacing the drives one at a time, rebuilding, then expanding?
