Anyone mind dropping some October 2022 advice for a 1st time Morrowind player looking to play?
Post Body

Hola,

A quick background:

Huge ES fan. Skyrim is fun, but my true love was/is oblivion. I recently went back and essentially did a 100% run of oblivion which was 1. a lot of fun and 2. raised my tolerance for older games. Because of this i'm looking to jump into Morrowind for the first time ever. I tried it once when I was like 12, but I went in uninformed and bounced off within like 30 minutes due not understanding the basic dice roll mechanic.

Anyway,

I've done enough research to know that OpenMW is the path i want to go down. I see that 0.47 was released last November, and 0.48 is in RC stage.

1st question:

Would you recommend just jumping into the RC? Or should I stick with 0.47?

2nd question:

I'm looking for an experience that is roughly vanilla . For reference in oblivion terms I used through the valley which was pretty much perfect. Is there a similar equivalent to this for MW? I've noticed two, any feedback would be appreciated :)

3rd and final question:

I got burned on oblivion slightly by The GOTY edition not actually being the "everything" edition that many mods need. Just to be clear, the only thing I need to buy for everything to work is the GOTY edition on Steam right?

Thanks in advance! Opinions and anecdotes welcome
