I came back to Christ recently, as a Protestant and a Lutheran this time rather than a Catholic. Still working on finding a congregation though. I found this sub through r/GayChristianity.

Anyways, before, as a Catholic, it was easy. I knew Latin, so bam, Vulgate—straight to what I considered the authoritative version. And I learned some Hebrew and Aramaic and a dash of Greek as well. For reasons personal and practical, then, I didn't need to bother toooooo much with the English, and when I did, I just used the version on the USCCB's website.

But now, again for reasons personal and practical, I'm looking for an English version to keep in my heart. The King James Version / RKJV is beautiful, and there's NLV and NET and NRAV and NIV and...

I just can't decide which version to hold close to my chest, which version to get a physical copy of to keep with me and study and memorize, to store God's Word in my heart. I'm really drawn to the poetry of King James. In your daily lives, which versions do you find yourselves using most often, and why?
