I wasn't really raised on Fundamentalism, though it's awfully hard to grow up in the rural American South and not be affected by it.
I just dawned on me that Fundamentalists are raised with a false dichotomy. They're basically told they MUST chose between taking everything in the Bible as literal history and science or they might as well throw out the whole thing. Then they wonder why after their kids grow up, start thinking for themselves and learn more about the world, and that a lot of what they were taught wasn't true, the children decide to be Atheists. I would probably chose the same thing.
Fundamentalism shots itself in the foot.
